Carlson ups the ante in the conflict by disseminating a video announcing his intention to stream his program live on Twitter.
Carlson’s Fox News contract’s no-compete provision may have already been broken.
On the basis of a recently disclosed phone call between Fox News’ legal counsel and one of Carlson’s associates, Carlson’s legal team claims that Fox News broke the terms of his contract.
Dinh admitted over the phone that Carlson’s messages had been leaked to the public by a Fox News source in an effort to embarrass him.

On May 3, Fox News’ senior lawyer allegedly got in touch with a close friend of Tucker Carlson and apologized for recent unfavorable press coverage. Viet Dinh reportedly gave Carlson’s crew the assurance that Fox News had “not authorized” any leaks that resulted in the negative headlines. Dinh also said that Fox News believed a board member was communicating to the media about Carlson without authorization. Dinh also disclosed that the director of Fox News’ PR department received a warning that she would be “fired” if discovered leaking information.

According to Bryan Freedman, the lawyer defending Carlson in his fight to leave Fox News, the network’s most recent contact is proof that they violated the terms of Carlson’s contract. This is as a result of news coverage of the network’s disparaging remarks towards Carlson.
“It strains credulity that, immediately after agreeing to pay almost $780 million to settle serious allegations of misconduct that a member of Fox’s Board of Directors would be engaging in an attempted smear campaign by illegally leaking information about Tucker Carlson,” Freedman stated. “However, we have to trust that it is true when the Chief Legal Officer informs Tucker that he believes it to be the case.”
Carlson asserts his freedom to begin his program anywhere he sees fit, with Twitter as his preferred platform.
Fox News must now make a critical choice over how to handle the Carlson situation and the possible consequences of further implicating other hosts in any prospective legal action.
