Concerns are raised after Vice President Kamala Harris was spotted on social media laughing during a “awkward” moment while speaking to a crowd.
In her address at the swearing-in of the commissioners for the “White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Hispanics,” Harris injected some of her own personality. Harris briefly talked with an accent as she related a tale about her mother, further highlighting the significance of supporting and encouraging varied cultures.
“My mother used to, she would give us a hard time sometimes,” Harris said. “And she would say to us, ‘I don’t know what’s wrong with you young people. You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?’”
After hearing her tale, Harris erupted in what some have dubbed cackling laughter and even asked the audience to join in.
Unfortunately, the only response was a few hushed chuckles. However, the bizarre footage left many social media users perplexed and openly questioned her sanity.
“I’m pretty sure Kamala just fell out of a coconut tree. There’s something seriously wrong with her,” one user wrote on Twitter.
“Kamala didn’t fall out of a coconut tree but she definitely had one dropped on her head,” another wrote.
“Kamala’s coconut tree joke…she was lit up on something,” observed by another user.
“Please! That’s her norm! It’s utterly embarrassing. We have a guy that doesn’t know what he’s saying and where he’s walking too and a gal who consistently sounds like a stoner philosophizing,” said another.

“What was she on?” asked another user.
Another poster referred to Harris’ account of her mother and remarked, “So she knew early on something wasn’t right with her daughters head.”
Harris has recalled a laugh-out-loud embarrassing anecdote involving her mother on more than one occasion.
In a video tape uploaded by the research department of the Republican National Committee, Harris can be heard saying, “I went home one day and I said, ‘Why are conservatives evil, Mommy?I thought we were meant to conserve, after all. Aw, shucks! I was unable to explain it. I now can! Haha, haha.
It did not go as planned for Harris to visit her alma mater for the March Madness NCAA men’s basketball game. Despite the Second Gentleman being present, the audience booed. Her historically black college, Howard University, lost to Kansas handily, which only made matters worse. According to a Newsweek article, Harris’ path to the college basketball championship tournament got off to a difficult start.
She spoke to the team in the locker room after the game.
“You played hard. You played to the very last second. You made all us Bisons proud,” she said, The Associated Press reported. “You are smart. You are disciplined. You put everything you had into the game. You guys did not stop, and that is so inspiring. So you keep playing with chin up and shoulders back because you showed the world who Bison are.”
Harris earned his degree from the most prestigious historically black college in the country in 1986.
“So I know you may not be feeling great right now, OK, but know who you are,” she said. “You are excellence. You are hard work. You are powerful, and you are winners.”
The Associated Press conjectured that the boos might have been caused by the primarily Republican political leanings of the states concerned.
The AP claims that when Harris was mentioned on the video board during the game, there were more negative than favorable reactions from the crowd in the solidly Republican states of Kansas and Iowa.
Harris was not well received despite appearing on “The Late Show” alongside host Stephen Colbert.
She was confronted by loud protesters who pursued her motorcade while shouting, “Lock her up!” as seen on video.
