Elon Musk has named Linda Yaccarino as the next CEO of Twitter/X. She resigned from her post this morning after previously working as an advertising executive for NBC Universal. This big hire ushers in a novel new era for the business.
“I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter,” Musk wrote.
“[Linda Yaccarino] will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology. Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app.”
As Yaccarino abruptly announced her resignation from NBC on Friday morning, speculation regarding her hiring gathered steam yesterday.
Yaccarino’s leadership has generated controversy due to videos showing the former advertising executive endorsing left-wing beliefs, which alarmed conservatives on Twitter before he was hired.
Yaccarino enthusiastically displayed in early Friday recordings her resolve to fight for equity and social justice at Comcast. Despite prior attempts made by the corporation to diversify representation, Yaccarino admits that more work needs to be done.
