A courageous middle school boy in Massachusetts bravely aired his opinions by dropping the mike at a crowded school board meeting after feeling the strain of an unpleasant environment. His five words conveyed a strong message: stop silencing opposing viewpoints!
“Yes — words on a shirt made people feel unsafe.”
The fact that a twelve-year-old in Middleborough wearing a shirt that said “There are only two genders” forced two adults to have a “uncomfortable talk” with him. At a school committee meeting, Liam Morrison courageously spoke out about the incident, inspiring people all over the world to stand up for what they believe.
The youngster is heard saying, “In the video I put on TikTok by Libs, “I never thought that the shirt I wore to school on March 21 would lead me to speak with you today. On that Tuesday morning, I was taken out of gym class to sit down with two adults for what turned out to be a very uncomfortable talk.”
“I was told that people were complaining about the words on my shirt, that my shirt was making some students feel unsafe. Yes — words on a shirt made people feel unsafe. They told me that I wasn’t in trouble, but it sure felt like I was,” he noted.
Morrison bravely stood up for his convictions by refusing to take off the clothing he was wearing when school officials objected to it. Along with his father, they made the decision to leave for the day rather than change their minds.
“I have been told that my shirt was targeting a protected class. Who is this protected class? Are their feelings more important than my rights?” He rhetorically questioned the panel. “I don’t complain when I see pride flags and diversity posters hung throughout the school; do you know why? Because others have a right to their beliefs just as I do.”
“There. Are. Only. Two. Genders,” Morrison talked about the garment. “Nothing harmful. Nothing threatening. Just a statement I believe to be a fact.”
The pupil was singled out for correction even though his outfit didn’t cause any trouble. Peers and teachers both mainly missed other kids’ disruptive behavior.
“I feel like these adults were telling me that it wasn’t okay for me to have an opposing view,” He continued prior to smashing, “Their arguments were weak in my opinion.”

Morrison said that it had been a teaching moment for him, saying specifically, “I learned that a lot of other students share my view. I learned that adults don’t always do the right thing or make the right decisions.”
On May 5, Superintendent Carolyn Lyons received a notification from the Massachusetts Family Institute (MFI), a group devoted to defending student rights against leftist gender ideology, that a little girl named Morrison would be wearing her contentious t-shirt once more. MFI stated they are prepared to pursue legal action against those at fault if she receives treatment similar to what she did on March 21.
According to a spokesperson, “Massachusetts Family Institute is grateful for young students like Liam who aren’t afraid to stand up for what they believe in. Some people may like what Liam’s shirt said, and others may dislike it. But the point is that under our Constitution, he has the right to say it. Without voices like Liam’s, kids in public school are only hearing one side of the important discussion about gender identity. That’s why MFI is proud to support Liam in standing up against his school’s disregard for his right to free speech.”
Lyons had previously appeared to support Morrison’s position of being silenced as her statement on April 13 stated, in part: “Today, our children were caught in the crossfire of a debate that doesn’t belong at their feet. It doesn’t belong at their schoolhouse. This is unacceptable to me. Our children deserve the right to go to school in a safe and supportive environment.”
