Rep. Swalwell’s prior relationships came under examination in 2020 when it was found that he had interactions with Christine Fang, a person suspected of working for Chinese intelligence (also known as Fang Fang). The House Intelligence Committee and others were quite concerned about the ramifications of this relationship.
As Swalwell appeared during a congressional hearing on Wednesday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene humorously mocked him, saying, “That was quite entertaining from someone that had a sexual relationship with a Chinese spy. And everyone knows it!”

“I move to take our words down. Completely inappropriate,” hurriedly said Swalwell.
When asked to repeat the phrases he wished to keep off the record, Swalwell said, “Everything that the gentlelady from Georgia has said.”
“You need to be more specific,” the chair said.
The statement was not amended despite extensive debate.
“For those members who are wondering, we are looking into rule, clause one of rule 17 of Okay. Okay, the chair rules that those words that were spoken are not going to be stricken from the record.”
The new comments made by Greene have only made Swalwell’s already difficult week worse.
Congressman Eric Swalwell’s extravagant trip was highlighted by Fox News’ Tucker Carlson yesterday and was paid for by his campaign contributors. He poked fun at the controversy surrounding his previous connection with Christine Fang, a suspected Chinese agent, by questioning this decision further.
In order to analyze a congressman’s extravagant spending habits, Tucker Carlson was joined on Tuesday night by Chadwick Moore of The Spectator. Mr. Moore drew attention to the extravagant sums allotted for hotels and made assumptions about the Congressman’s possible activities while touring the cities of America.
