Nancy Pelosi, a former House speaker, was hit with a sizable fine after having to pay thousands of dollars to a man who claimed her team had sent him unlawful SMS solicitations. Her staff is putting a lot of effort into making sure that the upcoming election procedures precisely follow the rules and laws in place.
Pelosi and an Illinois man who sued her for allegedly breaking federal do-not-call legislation recently came to a settlement deal. Jorge Rojas, the plaintiff, said the congresswoman sent him 21 text messages asking for funds to her campaign. He wanted $31,500 in damages, but finally agreed to settle for only $7,500.

In the language of the case, which Rojas filed in October 2022, he detailed a number of the absurd assertions Pelosi made in an effort to increase donations before the November elections. Her messages included the following: Democrats have a “one-in-a-lifetime chance” to hold the House, Senate, and White House; Marco Rubio was “in danger” of losing his Senate seat in Florida; Republicans are “fleeing the Senate,” which was made in reference to the retirement of three Republican senators that year.
A distinguishing feature of Nancy Pelosi’s 20 years as the leader of the House Democrats has been her outstanding fundraising track record. But, some campaigners have objected to requests that appeared to be made at inappropriate times. For example, she sent an appeal just after Roe v. Wade was overturned last year.
Political campaigns are increasingly employing automated text messages to reach out to voters, but beware: those who violate the Do Not Call Registry’s guidelines risk facing legal action. In fact, under federal law, politicians may be held accountable for any pre-recorded calls or messages they make to the voters on that list.
In her role as the House speaker, Congresswoman Pelosi has generally kept quiet. She did, however, lately use the chance to criticize the former president Trump in the wake of the DA Bragg’s accusation of financial fraud.
“The Grand Jury has acted upon the facts and the law. No one is above the law, and everyone has the right to a trial to prove innocence. Hopefully, the former President will peacefully respect the system, which grants him that right,” stated the former Speaker.
