“No candidates have publicly announced their intent to be Trump’s VP, but the former president has indicated that ‘a lot of people’ are ‘auditioning’ behind the scenes. Trump insiders told the Caller that although there haven’t been any formal discussions to narrow down the pool, there are a set of characteristics that will likely be considered,” According to the Daily Caller.
“We do know one thing about Trump, is that he puts a lot of weight on how well you present yourself. That really matters to him, so I suspect that will matter for his VP choice,” Republican advisor to Trump told the Caller that the candidate must also be “TV ready.”
“Loyalty. That’s the necessary characteristic of anyone who wants to be VP. President Trump and the movement was dragged down by disloyalty in the White House,” a Trump-related person stated.
Insiders were very quiet about the individual who drew his attention during the interview. They did, however, provide some intriguing hints as to the personality characteristics and features that he found endearing.
Unnamed Trump aide was quoted in a recent Politico article as saying that the 45th president is likely to pick a running mate. “From three general lanes of candidates: women, conservatives of color, or a trusted adviser.”
“Once you get past those two issues — loyalty and Trump going more with his gut — Trump has a lot of leeway in who he would pick,” Trump’s primary pollster in 2016 and 2020, Tony Fabrizio, stated.
“He’s not necessarily looking to balance the ticket geographically, but what he can do is pick to balance gender, race, ethnicity — a lot of different lanes there. It could be everything from a Tim Scott in South Carolina to an Asian American in California or somebody Hispanic in Texas. There are so many choices and paths. And there’s lots of time to go,” he added.
Kristi Noem of South Dakota, Elise Stefanik of New York, Sarah Huckabee Sanders of Arkansas, and Kari Lake, a former journalist from Arizona, are four extraordinary women who may appear on Trump’s list of prospective appointees. These women have a richness of diversity and expertise that may make them strong contenders for this distinguished list.
According to The Washington Examiner:
Sanders has undoubtedly created a name for herself in the political realm as the youngest governor in the US and the Trump White House’s longest-serving press secretary. Even Trump supporters acknowledged that her reaction to Biden’s State of the Union address on February 7th was “exceptionally strong.” She has been rapidly moving up political draft boards for a reason—everyone is watching her right now.
By electing Kristi Noem as South Dakota’s first female governor in 2018, the state created history. Noem had experience with politics; she had been a member of the House for more than ten years. She has assumed a prominent position in the party’s leadership due to her image as a steadfast Republican in the current “culture wars.”
After her election in 2015, Stefanik, who is presently the chairperson of the House Republican conference, has played a significant role in American politics. She used to identify as a moderate Republican, but after working on former President Trump’s defense team during his first impeachment, she has shifted sharply to the right. Stefanik spoke about her strong friendship with Trump and even endorsed his future run for president in 2024 only days before he publicly launched his candidacy. She is a significant presence inside the Party despite her political reversals and consistent backing for Trump.
Several of Trump’s loyal advisors hope he avoids choosing Lake above other prospective candidates for a significant job because she is an odd option. She has a history in television anchoring and just lost a gubernatorial race, but the former president is still interested in her because of her outspoken comments about election fraud. There is no disputing that she has had a lasting effect on those in the political world, despite the fact that some people may find her mysterious.
Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican Congresswoman from Georgia who has recently generated media buzz, is an odd omission from the Washington Examiner’s analysis.
According to Jonathan Allen of NBC, Greene has met with a number of people who have been informed “about her weighty ambitions.”
“She sees herself on the shortlist for Trump’s VP. Paraphrasing Cokie Roberts, when MTG looks in the mirror she sees a potential president smiling back,” He continued, mentioning the late political reporter who contributed to ABC News, NPR, and other media.
