Former President Donald Trump is once again in the legal news after enduring a lengthy seven-hour deposition in a civil lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James. Trump clearly felt the heat from the probing questions since his every utterance was intently monitored. In an unexpected turn of events, President Trump met with James’ defense team’s attorneys on Thursday. He was apparently “eager” to testify in the case since he seemed more confident this time. In contrast to his prior deposition, where he cited his Fifth Amendment rights, this is a significant change. What this new finding means for the lawsuit moving forward is still up in the air.

“He remains resolute in his stance that he has nothing to conceal, and he looks forward to educating the attorney general about the immense success of his multibillion-dollar company,” Alina Habba, Trump’s attorney, said.
The head of the GOP was “not only willing but eager to testify,” according to Habba.
According to The New York Post:
Around 9:40 a.m., Trump arrived to James’ office via motorcade. and left little before 6:16 o’clock.
Almost the entire seven hours, according to a lawyer for Trump’s company, were spent by the Republican presidential candidate “describing in detail his extraordinary business success.”
“The transactions at the center of this case were wildly profitable for the banks and for the Trump entities,” attorney Christopher Kise said. “When the facts of this success, and not politically engineered soundbites, are out in the open, everyone will scoff at the notion any fraud took place.”
If the case isn’t resolved prior to that date, the trial for the lawsuit James filed against the former president is set for October.
Before the deposition, Trump criticized the case on his social media channel Truth Social.
“This civil case is ridiculous, just like all of the other Election Interference cases being brought against me,” Trump wrote. “If I had a fair judge, this case would have never happened. MAGA!”
James has added another layer by bringing a complaint against former President Trump, who is already dealing with legal issues. This most recent discovery occurs as Trump already faces a whopping 34 felony accusations for allegedly paying adult film star Stormy Daniels hush money. Given the seriousness of the situation, James’ action is unquestionably one that has to be watched.
In the shoddy case brought against President Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, lawyers aren’t anticipated back in court until December 2023.
