BREAKING: Greg Abbott’s Mind-Blowing Announcement

In a recent announcement, Texas Governor Greg Abbott stated that former Army Sergeant Daniel Perry, who was found guilty of killing a BLM protestor during the 2020 unrest, will be granted a pardon. This decision is set to bring closure to a highly controversial case that sparked heated debates across the nation. With this action, Governor Abbott hopes to bring some solace to all those affected by the unfortunate events that took place during the protests.

“I am working as swiftly as Texas law allows regarding the pardon of Sgt. Perry,”  Governor Abbott made the announcement in a tweet on Saturday.

The Board of Pardons and Paroles must first recommend or approve the pardon before it may be issued by the Texas Governor. The complexity of the pardoning process was therefore widely discussed when someone tweeted about this clause in the Texas Constitution. It serves as a crucial reminder that even seemingly simple legal notions can have a complex web of interpretation and subtlety.

The Republican governor is awaiting the outcome of his application for a pardon.

The whole statement is as follows:

One of the toughest “Stand Your Ground” statutes for self-defense is present in Texas, and it cannot be overturned by a judge or a progressive district attorney.

The Texas Constitution restricts the Governor’s pardon power to only acting on a Board of Pardons and Paroles recommendation, unlike the President or several other states. Texas law DOES permit the Governor to ask the Board of Pardons and Paroles to decide whether to pardon someone. I’ve asked the Board to speed up its review and made that request.

When the Board’s request for a pardon comes across my desk, I eagerly anticipate approving it. Additionally, the Texas Legislature is drafting laws to accomplish the purpose I have prioritized of taming renegade district attorneys.

In a terrible occurrence, an Uber driver named Perry fatally shot a Black Lives Matter protester in Austin, Texas, in July 2020. According to police accounts, Perry used lethal force while attempting to get through a sizable crowd of protesters who were unlawfully encircling his vehicle. Many local residents who were peacefully marching for social justice were startled and saddened by the incident.

According to Perry’s attorneys, one protester, Garrett Foster, was carrying an AK-47 when the protestors started throwing objects at Perry’s automobile.

Perry claimed that after Foster raised his AK-47 towards Perry, he started firing at Foster. “When Garrett Foster pointed his AK-47 at Daniel Perry, Daniel had two tenths of a second to defend himself. He chose to live,” according to Perry’s lawyer, Fox News.

“It may be legal in Texas to carry an assault rifle in downtown Austin. It doesn’t make it a good idea. If you point a firearm at someone, you’re responsible for everything that happens next,” the attorney added.

Below is a video of the incident:

On Friday, Perry was found guilty of murder.
