The demise of young and talented former New York Mets pitching prospect Matt Pobereyko, who was just 31 years old when he passed away, shocked the sports world.
Unfortunately, it has been reported that the person’s abrupt cardiac episode was the cause of death.

Pobereyko started his ascent to success with the Mets after being selected in the 2015 draft. When he was discharged from their minor league system three years later, things did not turn out so well for him. Pobereyko was unfazed by this error and continued to contribute to two productive Frontier League teams, the Evansville Otters and Southern Illinois Miners, until deciding it was time to retire in 2019.
“The Sioux City Explorers regretfully announce the passing of pitcher Matt Pobereyko on February 24, 2023” the team wrote.
Manager Steve Montgomery of the Explorers remarked, “Words cannot express the grief and sorrow we feel today for Matt’s family, friends, teammates and his fans. “He truly loved being an Explorer and being a part of this community. He was as fierce of a friend as he was as a competitor. We will miss him as a baseball player, but even more so as a friend.”
He had a successful Major League Baseball career, proudly wearing the jerseys of the Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Mets.
