Speaking to an audience on Thursday, President Joe Biden forewarned of potential obstacles to his program, citing “MAGA Republicans” in the House who are committed to obstruct any and all progress made during his first term.
During his visit to Springfield, Virginia, President Biden delivered statistics demonstrating the improvement of the American economy, including a decline in unemployment and an increase in earnings. Additionally, he discussed the unexpected 2.9% growth in the fourth quarter of 2020, which offered proof of an earlier than anticipated economic rebound.

“We’re moving in the right direction. Now we’ve got to protect those gains … that our policies have generated, protect them from the MAGA Republicans in the House of Representatives who are threatening to destroy this progress,” Biden said.
He highlighted the Republican Party’s plans to severely reduce important programs like Social Security and Medicare and enact a harsh 30% sales tax.
“They want to cut your Social Security, Medicare. Now, this is the God’s truth. It’s almost unbelievable,” Biden said.
The president brought up difficult talks on lifting the debt ceiling in his remarks. Republican efforts to use it for political gain were promised not to scare him.
“They’re actually threatening to have us default on the American debt … MAGA Republicans are literally choosing to inflict this kind of pain on the American people. Why? Why?” Biden said.
In a recent speech, the president shocked the crowd by referring to Virginia Democratic Congressman Don Beyer as “Doug” four times in place of calling him by name.
“Where’s Doug? Congressman?” the president said. “Oh, there you are. Doug, thanks for the passport into town. Doug and I have something in common, we both married way above our station.”
Republicans and Democrats are engaged in a contentious discussion on raising the debt ceiling as tensions between them increase. Although the GOP’s plan to raise the cap includes spending reductions, specifics are still lacking. Additionally, both sides have firmly adopted positions in what is certain to be a continuous debate over fiscal responsibility. They are resolute about avoiding raising taxes, which could raise the money required to cut debts.
Contrary to President Trump’s statements, the Republican party and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy have agreed to exclude Social Security and Medicare from discussions about expenditure cuts. Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic Minority Leader, has also made it plain that these programs will not be discussed in any discussions about budget cuts.

Biden’s lie regarding Republicans alleged plan to cut Social Security and Medicare is nothing new. Democrats constantly make such bogus charges. They want to scare senior citizens to get votes. This is the norm for them as is the false claim that it is necessary to raise taxes on the rich so that they will pay their fair share. The income tax rate for highest money earners is higher than for the middle class and low income earners. Most of the Democratic Party politicians are very wealthy and many of them give very little to charity compared to those in the middle class. If they truly cared about the needy they would donate to charities devoted help those in need.
