Explosive: Rep. Steve Scalise Blasts Biden

Rep. Scalise criticized the President for declining to support a measure that would increase domestic oil output in his home state of Louisiana.

“The president actually issued a veto threat on this bill. A veto threat should be a rare exercise that you reserve for policy that might hurt the country,” Scalise said as the House of Representatives debated H.R. 21, the Strategic Petroleum Response Act. “Let’s read why the president issued the veto threat. In his veto threat he said ‘the administration’s use of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve has been essential to protecting our energy security and to lowering gas prices for Americans.’”

A proposal by Republican Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers was recently presented to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, but its future is questionable because the White House has voiced opposition and threatened to veto it if it passes Congress.

President Biden approved the release of up to 180 million barrels from the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) in March 2022 in a daring measure to discourage aggression. An action conveyed a clear message, which ultimately worked because Russia quickly withdrew from its Ukrainian incursion, and it was the first time since the 1980s that this emergency gasoline source had been depleted so significantly.

President Biden argued in a potent address that his choice to tap into America’s oil reserves was crucial in lowering gas prices. Some have seen a conflict between Biden’s efforts to promote green energy sources while concurrently seeking economic relief through conventional fossil fuels. The administration has previously blamed Russia and large oil companies alike for price hikes.

“I hope I’m not the one that breaks this news to the White House, but, Mr. President, your policies have not lowered gas prices for Americans,” Scalise said. “Maybe the calculator’s broken at the White House, we did the math. LEt’s so some fact checking. Since Joe Biden took the oath of office, gas prices have not lowered, they have increased 50%.”

According to AAA’s Nov. 3 and Dec. 7 reports reported by the Daily Caller News Foundation, the average price of a gallon of standard petrol has risen in the previous month, nearly doubling from $2.1218 to an astounding $3.502 per gal. That’s an increase of more than 40 cents, which will be noticeable to drivers everywhere at the gas pump.

The DCNF made several attempts to get the White House to comment, but they were unsuccessful.
