The Fairfax County Police Department made an arrest on Monday of a man who had previously served as president of the Virginia Teachers Association and is suspected of stealing money from the organization.
After a protracted police investigation, it was determined that Ingrid Gant, the previous head of Arlington’s Education Association (AEA), had embezzled over half a million dollars worth of union money for her own personal use. As a result, Ingrid Gant was arrested and charged with embezzlement. Reportedly, evidence proved that she used AEA debit cards to make unlawful transactions and also granted herself many incentives without authorization.

“AEA is pursuing all legal channels to recoup any lost funds and hold those responsible accountable,” according to the union’s statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Under its new leadership, AEA has already implemented stronger financial controls and transparent reporting practices to ensure sound operation. As a result of these changes, AEA is in a better position to ensure that every Arlington student has access to a quality public school, regardless of where they live, their family income, or the color of their skin.”
Gant was terminated from her position at the union in March 2022 because she had failed to provide the board members with the requisite paperwork. WRIC News covered the story that sparked a commotion in their town after reporting on the latest development.
According to a story in the New York Post, Grant had sent a letter to the superintendent of Arlington Public Schools about the proliferation of COVID-19 before to being terminated from his position. Grant referred to the school’s indoor lunch period as a “super-spreader” and said that when the number of Omicron cases rises, instructors would be paying the “ultimate sacrifice.”
In June, a letter that had been copy-edited and sent by President Biden to Arlington parents became popular on Twitter after being posted by one of those parents. Because it had twenty egregious grammatical problems, it attracted a lot of attention, which demonstrates how vital it is to use accurate language and punctuation when composing important letters.

Authorities have filed charges against a man who once served as the treasurer of Pennsylvania’s teachers union for allegedly stealing more than $400,000 in cash over a period of eight years. The employee who had been trusted had stolen money from the organization’s accounts and put it into her own personal accounts, as the investigators discovered.
In response to the question that DCNF posed, the Fairfax County Police Department made the decision not to comment on the matter.
