Boebert Gets Powerful Committee Assignment

Rep. Lauren Boebert, who originally refused to support Kevin McCarthy for speaker unless her requests were satisfied, has been rewarded for her tenacity with a notable House committee appointment.

Lauren Boebert, a Republican representative from Colorado, made history on Tuesday night when she became the first member of her group to join the significant House Oversight Committee. The position was filled when the respected Steering Committee of Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy made a final judgment.

The outlet noted: “The appointment gives the outspoken Colorado Republican outsized influence on looming investigations into three-letter agencies like the CIA and FBI that McCarthy—whom Boebert vocally opposed for the speaker post—had hinted at in the lead-up to Republicans taking the majority this past November.”

In her early days in Congress, Congresswoman Boebert caused controversy by openly criticizing Minority Leader McCarthy before appointing him soon after. She repeatedly criticized the GOP leadership on the House floor and in the media before ultimately caving in, despite casting more than ten “no” votes prior to this surprising decision.

Boebert spoke the following during a particularly stressful speaker vote: “Let’s stop with the campaign smears and tactics to get people to turn against us, even having my favorite president [Donald Trump] call us and tell us we need to knock this off.

“I think it actually needs to be reversed—the president needs to tell [Representative] Kevin McCarthy that ‘sir, you do not have the votes and it’s time to withdraw,’” she added at the time.

Boebert’s assignment in the last round of talks seems to have been a signal that McCarthy had reached a deal with dissident GOP members. This emphasizes how essential it was for both parties to cooperate in order to come to an agreement.

“We changed the way bills will be passed,” Boebert said in a news release at the time. “We changed the way the government will be funded. We changed the ways committees will be formed. We secured votes on term limits, the fair tax, the Texas Border Plan, and so much more.”

Following her appointment, Boebert’s office released the following statement: “As an advocate for transparency and reform, I will pursue the truth, conduct effective oversight, and fight to root out waste, fraud, and abuse throughout the federal government.

“I look forward to working with Chairman James Comer and supporting his mission to eliminate mismanagement in the federal government by investigating the border and fentanyl crises, COVID relief fraud, government collusion with big tech to censor Americans, the botched Afghanistan withdrawal, the energy crisis, COVID origins, and the Biden family’s shady business schemes,” she added.

A high-value declaration from Hunter Biden to his father Joe may have been a sign of questionable money laundering, Colorado Republicans said earlier in the week. Therefore, it has been suggested that an inquiry is necessary to find any illegal actions.

According to a recent article in the New York Post, Hunter Biden’s chaotic lifestyle ran afoul of national security concerns. Classified records were uncovered when he intermittently resided at a Delaware home; at the same time, he was battling a drug addiction, taking part in possibly dubious international business transactions, and the subject of a federal inquiry.

“The now-52-year-old began listing the Wilmington home as his address following his 2017 divorce from ex-wife Kathleen Buhle — even falsely claiming he owned the property on a July 2018 background check form as part of a rental application,” The Post reported.

According to Post writer Miranda Devine’s book, Hunter Biden’s laptop had embarrassing information, such as an application requesting a monthly “rent” payment of $50,000, which is a lot more than the highest property price in the neighborhood. It remains to be known what is causing this astonishing disparity.

In response, Boebert tweeted: “Paying $50,000 a month in rent is just not something that normal people do. That sounds a whole lot like a money laundering operation that needs to be investigated.”
