Senator Ted Cruz questioned Jill Sanborn, the assistant director of the FBI, “Was Ray Epps a fed?” She responded, “Senator, I can’t answer that question.” Cruz persuaded Sanborn to provide images of Epps talking to protesters who then started to tear down barriers when he was pressured by Cruz. “Did Mr. Epps urge them to tear down the barricades?” Sanborn again said, “I cannot answer that.”

Unanswered doubts concerning Ray Epps’ identification and role in the January 6 uprising have gained additional significance as a result of the J6 Committee transcript’s public publication.

According to the recently made public transcripts of Epps’ testimony with the Jan. 6 Witch Hunt Committee, when questioned why he suggested he would be detained, Epps lied and stated he was attempting to “protect” Trump supporters from “Baked Alaska,” who he said was attempting to “incite violence.” When Epps urges everyone to enter the Capitol on January 6, Baked Alaska is the first person to start chanting “Fed!” in the video.
The transcript reveals that neither Epps nor his kid can recall being referred to as a “Fed.” Epps consistently asserts that his participation in the J6 was “only trying to protect the police when, on the night of J5, he publicly advocated for people to go into the Capitol.”
