Following the repeal of Title 42 regulations under the Trump administration on December 21st, which had previously restricted illegal entry into the country, the Biden administration is ushering in a new era of immigration policies that will enable more asylum seekers to pursue their cases within American borders.
The DHS has released their six-pillar strategy for overcoming the challenges associated with terminating Title 42 and adjusting to a new regulatory environment. This plan promises to equip people for taking on these difficulties head-on, ushering in a period of innovation and advancement.

The Department of Homeland Security has developed a strategy to deal with the surge at our borders that includes strengthening nongovernmental organizations (NGO) to help immigrants when they are released from custody, setting up temporary housing, and adding human resources. Additionally, authorities are stepping up their efforts to prosecute smugglers and address this problem head-on.
According to reports from a federal organization, when the present Title 42 regulation is abolished, up to 14,000 migrants may attempt to enter the US illegally each day.

President Trump signed Title 42 to prevent the spread of infectious illnesses into the United States at the commencement of the historic COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The protection law has been used more than 2.5 million times throughout this difficult year, but its future is uncertain as Republican states battle to keep it in force in opposition to a federal judge’s decision that would go into effect on December 21.
President Biden’s administration is carefully assessing its choices in relation to a controversial verdict under pressure from both sides of the political spectrum. Next week, it will need to move swiftly because Republicans have warned against letting Title 42 expire, a decision that could have significant repercussions for all Americans.
“When Title 42 ends, weekly illegal border crossings are projected to be 98,000. That’s 14,000 crossings every day. 583 crossings every hour. America is being invaded!” Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Tx.) said in a post on Twitter.

A number of GOP lawmakers have urged President Joe Biden to extend the emergency order, arguing that terminating Title 42 will “result in a complete loss of operational control over the southern border, a profoundly negative impact on border communities, and significant suffering and fatalities among the migrants unlawfully entering the United States.”
Lawmakers urged President Biden to act quickly to address the urgent situation, pointing out that, albeit taking some time, legislative measures would be the most successful in the long run.
The DHS also urged Congress to take action to update what it called the broken immigration system, in which “incentives are misaligned, asylum court backlogs stretch for years, and the border security challenge is exacerbated.”
Rep. Henry Cuellar issued a warning on Wednesday, stating that the lifting of Title 42 might result in a rush of immigration to Texas of up to 50,000 persons, the highest amount since before the pandemic started.

‘Significant Increase’
The Department of Homeland Security has stated that a rise of people trying to cross the border illegally will put tremendous pressure on our immigration system, which has been standing still for decades and requires a significant overhaul. This surge would add to the issues already caused by the structure’s outdated foundations.
With space already at a premium, the Department of Homeland Security is prepared for an unprecedented surge in immigration. This might result in severe crowding and increased pressure along the US-Mexico border.
The Department of Homeland Security anticipates an inflow of illegal aliens being released into local regions across America and is planning for the potential effects that their enforced processing delays and entry interruptions may have on American communities.
“With NGOs strained, there is a potential for a higher number of single adults and families to be provisionally released from DHS custody into communities without NGO or other sponsor support, pending the outcome of their immigration court proceedings,” the agency said.
This week, Secretary Mayorkas visited El Paso to survey the dramatic rise in illegal crossings at America’s busiest immigration corridor. Sunday marked record numbers of migrants making their way across this Texas border city as they search for a better life and new hope within our country.
On December 12, an astounding 1,500 migrants managed to get past border security between the United States and Mexico and into El Paso, which could result in one of the region’s record-breaking crossings ever!
El Paso Matters recently posted shocking footage on social media of migrants making a treacherous journey across the border, struggling in darkness and risk to reach safety. Families were seen huddling around fires for warmth as they awaited processing after their long trek through dangerous waters.
Sleeping on the Streets
Sunday evening saw over 1,500 migrants from Jiménez arrive in Juárez escorted by Mexican state police as part of a caravan of 20 buses. Their journey across was made possible thanks to the help and protection provided by officials – allowing these individuals to pursue their dreams for a better life.
According to the outlet, who speculated that this may have been the largest single border crossing in the history of the region, the immigrants claimed to be from Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Peru.
According to an El Paso dashboard, the Border Patrol Central Processing Center was holding more than 5,600 illegal immigrants as of Dec. 13. The facility can accommodate about 3,500 people.
The processing center was overflowing, said to Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas), who also claimed that some people were camped out on city streets.
“Migrants sleeping on the streets of El Paso! This is what the New Ellis Island looks like: 611 migrants out on the streets because the NGOs are out of capacity; every Border Patrol agent in processing centers overcapacity with 5,000 folks. This is exactly what Democrats wanted.”
Democrats have long been accused by Republicans of supporting an open-borders policy, but the Biden administration has consistently refuted this accusation.
Mayorkas has acknowledged that the situation along the southern border is “difficult,” while insisting that the Biden administration wants a “safe, legal, and orderly immigration system that is based on our bedrock priorities: to keep our borders secure, address the plight of children as the law requires, and enable families to be together.”
Mayorkas said recently that Republican rhetoric claiming that the “border is open” was helping fuel the influx.
“The political cry that the border is open is music to the smugglers’ ears, because they take that political rhetoric and they market it” to desperate migrants, Mayorkas told The Dallas Morning News.
However, one of Biden’s first acts after taking office was to reverse the “Remain in Mexico” policy implemented under Trump.
According to statistics, this law compelled asylum seekers to stay in Mexico while their applications were being reviewed, which prevented the filing of fictitious asylum claims and lessened the flow of illegal immigration.
