Dismissed! Katie Hobbs Lawyer Files To Dismiss Kari Lake’s Lawsuit

As the earliest hearings for the legal arguments relating to their elections began on Tuesday, Republican candidates for two of Arizona’s top positions were put to the test in court. To continue on this path to victory, they must now take additional action.

In a first, the Republican candidates for governor and secretary of state in Arizona’s 2018 midterm elections, Kari Lake and Mark Finchem, are attempting to have the results thrown out because of alleged irregularities at the polls on Election Day. It is a contentious issue with broad ramifications because both parties maintain that voting irregularities cost them the election and disenfranchised their supporters.

Attorneys for Arizona Senate President Karen Fann and Secretary of State Katie Hobbs presented opposing cases before Judge Peter Thompson in a Maricopa County Superior Court hearing. The secretary’s office’s Andy Gaona expressed optimism that the case would be resolved without the need for an evidentiary hearing; Bryan Blehm suggested additional study by his own team should it be required. As both sides fight for power, the recount race only becomes hotter!

Attorneys for Secretary of State Katie Hobbs and Maricopa County sought a non-judicial resolution to their legal disagreements on Tuesday. But finally, the court presiding over this case turned down their demands.

“The secretary does believe that the court will be able to dispose of this case in its entirety on motions to dismiss without the need for an evidentiary hearing,” Andy Gaona, a distinguished lawyer representing the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office at an important hearing, made his mark with powerful statements in local media.

On Tuesday, Judge Gaona lashed out at Finchem’s lawsuit with a piercing critique that made quite the impression, and said his the “claims that are raised by the plaintiffs are baseless.”

“I know that the defendants may be confident about their positions, but I’m hesitant to not set one, and then have to scramble to get everyone ready for one because of how short the timeline is,” Judge Melissa Julian offered a measured yet compelling response.

The defendants in Lake’s complaint have been given a short window of time to present their motions; they have until Thursday at 3 p.m. EDT to do so, and Lake and her team have until Saturday of the same week to respond. As both sides prepare for this impending court war, every second counts!

Lawsuit

On December 9, losing candidate Mark Lake filed a lawsuit regarding the Arizona governor’s election. This local television broadcaster lost to Gov. Hobbs by a small margin of just 17,000 votes, or 0.6 percentage points, despite receiving support from the previous president Trump!

Three insiders from Maricopa County revealed a significant electoral irregularity to Just the News on Monday. They contend that tens of thousands of ballots that appeared entirely legitimate were declared invalid while being allowed back into the system, seriously damaging Arizona’s election integrity.

In response to an opponent’s challenge, Hobbs’ campaign launched a lawsuit, which they confidently predicted would be quickly dismissed.

Kari Lake’s attempt to overturn the results of a free, fair, and safe election was unsuccessful; Arizonans chose to elect Katie Hobbs as governor. The ruling party is adamant not to let this nuisance litigation get in the way of their preparations for Governor Hobb’s term next year.

Officials in Maricopa County responded quickly on election day when printer issues occurred and helped voters by assuring their ballots could still be deposited into secure boxes. County leaders guaranteed that no one was denied the right to vote as a result of these problems after the election. Residents were recently told by a representative for Maricopa that they would keep working to ensure that everyone has a chance to be heard throughout this crucial process so that democracy could thrive.

Lake has been working to learn more about apparent inconsistencies in vote tallying and other issues of electoral malpractice since the midterm elections last month. Through her online articles, she has requested public records as well as featured voter accounts that draw attention to problems like excessive waits at Maricopa County voting places.

In a risky move, a Republican state senator from Arizona this week filed a lawsuit challenging the outcomes of Maricopa’s most recent election. Similar to tossing a coin for fate, the lawsuit sought to reverse the result and give the victory to a different contender.

According to a lawsuit brought by state senator Sonny Borrelli and a number of Mohave voters, Maricopa County voters’ rights have been violated and their voting power has been diminished as a result of numerous electoral failures, creating a clear discrepancy between constitutional protections and actual conditions for residents of Mohave County, Arizona.
