President Donald Trump has ignited a political firestorm in Washington after selecting longtime adviser Stephen Miller to serve as his new White House chief of staff, prompting an extraordinary wave of condemnation from some of the Democratic Party’s most powerful figures.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and several prominent Democratic lawmakers wasted little time attacking the decision, portraying Miller’s promotion as a dangerous escalation of the administration’s immigration agenda.
Some Democrats are already threatening congressional investigations, legal challenges, and aggressive opposition to Miller’s leadership.
