Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is turning up the heat on Republican leadership after the GOP suffered a major setback in Tuesday’s midterm elections, accusing congressional Republicans of wasting a historic opportunity to advance President Donald Trump’s America First agenda.
Appearing on Fox News with host Laura Ingraham, DeSantis delivered a forceful critique of Senate Republicans, arguing that they had failed to capitalize on their control of Washington. Rather than aggressively pursuing conservative reforms, he suggested, GOP lawmakers spent much of their time making excuses while critical campaign promises remained unfulfilled.
His criticism centered on immigration enforcement, judicial reform, and the failure to translate Trump’s executive actions into permanent law.
According to DeSantis, Republicans had the political opportunity to enact changes that could have fundamentally reshaped the country for decades. Instead, he believes they allowed that opportunity to slip through their fingers.
