Federal agents have taken their investigation into former Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell to the doorstep of one of his wealthiest former political supporters.
This time, investigators weren’t searching Swalwell’s residence. They were inside the Beverly Hills mansion of billionaire businessman Stephen Cloobeck, a former California gubernatorial candidate who once helped finance Swalwell’s political ambitions.
The October 27 operation marks another significant development in a federal investigation that has already resulted in the seizure of Swalwell’s electronic devices and a search of his Washington, D.C., home.
