Former President Barack Obama is facing criticism over his latest campaign appearance in Michigan, with NBA champion Kyle Kuzma questioning whether Democrats are focusing on the issues that matter most to struggling families.
The Milwaukee Bucks forward, who grew up in Flint, Michigan, took aim at Obama after the former president traveled to Detroit to rally support for Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed, gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson, and other Democrats ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.
At the center of the controversy was Obama’s emphasis on religious representation, particularly the possibility of Michigan being represented in the U.S. Senate by a Muslim man and a Jewish woman.
For Kuzma, that message missed the mark.
