Omar Resurfaces — Under Another Name?

Minnesota Democrat visits Somali business hub alongside Attorney General Keith Ellison as scrutiny continues over an investigation into alleged immigration fraud

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has returned to public view in Minneapolis following a federal raid at her Washington, D.C., residence earlier this month. Her appearance at a prominent Somali commercial center comes as questions surrounding an ongoing federal investigation continue to draw attention.

Omar spent part of Friday afternoon at Karmel Mall, a sprawling shopping complex in Minneapolis, where she met with Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and several acquaintances for lunch. The visit offered a glimpse of the congresswoman’s activities less than two weeks after federal agents searched her home on October 12.

The search was reportedly connected to an investigation into potential immigration fraud involving documents submitted when Omar and her family entered the United States. However, the congresswoman has denied wrongdoing and has not been charged with a crime in connection with the investigation.
