The Constitution Pipeline could bring more Pennsylvania natural gas into New York and the Northeast, as the Trump administration turns to federal funding to revive a project abandoned after years of regulatory battles.
After years of delays and disputes over environmental permits, the long-stalled Constitution Pipeline is getting another chance.
The Trump administration announced on October 19 that the Department of Energy would commit up to $42 million in federal funding to advance the proposed natural gas project. The money will support permitting, engineering, environmental reviews, and other work needed before construction can move forward.
The announcement represents a renewed effort to expand access to domestic natural gas in a region where energy infrastructure has been the subject of fierce political and regulatory disagreements.
