President Donald Trump has decided against broadcasting the planned execution of convicted Fort Hood mass murderer Nidal Hasan, following objections from survivors and prominent national security figures who warned that the footage could become a powerful propaganda tool for terrorist organizations.
Among those raising concerns was Alonzo Lunsford, a survivor of the November 5, 2009, massacre who suffered seven gunshot wounds during Hasan’s deadly rampage.
Lunsford has never argued that Hasan should escape his punishment. In fact, he supports the death sentence and intends to witness the execution.
