A fishing vessel that vanished off Rhode Island nearly eight years ago has finally been located, and its discovery near an offshore wind turbine is raising serious questions about maritime safety, federal oversight, and a rescue operation that ended with two men missing.
The wreck of the Mistress, a 52-foot commercial fishing boat, was discovered approximately 50 feet from the foundation of a turbine at the Block Island Wind Farm.
But the location of the wreck is only part of the controversy.
