President Donald Trump is betting that artificial intelligence can tackle one of Washington’s oldest frustrations: figuring out how to get something done with the federal government.
On September 29, Trump unveiled America.gov, a new AI-powered portal designed to become a single digital entrance for federal information and services. He also signed an executive order directing federal agencies to integrate their public-facing services with the platform.
The administration’s pitch is straightforward: Americans should not need to understand the federal bureaucracy’s organizational chart just to apply for a passport, replace a Social Security card, research Medicare benefits, or find a government program.
