Rep. Ilhan Omar could face one of the most serious immigration-related challenges of her political career as federal authorities continue investigating allegations involving her immigration history.
Border Czar Tom Homan addressed the controversy during a Sunday appearance on Fox News, acknowledging that an investigation involving the Minnesota Democrat remains active while explaining what could happen if federal officials ultimately establish that she obtained citizenship through fraud or misrepresentation.
Homan emphasized that U.S. citizenship obtained through fraudulent representations is not necessarily beyond the reach of federal immigration authorities.
“We have denaturalized citizens based on fraud, based on lying on their applications or lying through the process, misrepresenting themselves, or maybe misrepresenting organizations they belong to or beliefs they have,” Homan said.
