The American economy delivered a major upside surprise in August, with employers adding far more jobs than economists had predicted and previous months receiving favorable revisions.
New figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show the economy added 162,000 jobs in August, dramatically exceeding forecasts heading into Friday’s report.
The unemployment rate, meanwhile, held steady at 4.1 percent.
