Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin is putting the human cost of the Biden-era border crisis squarely at the feet of the previous administration, arguing that deaths tied to illegal immigrants released into the United States could have been prevented with tougher enforcement.
During an appearance on Fox News, Mullin argued that President Joe Biden possessed many of the same executive authorities President Donald Trump has used to tighten immigration enforcement — but refused to use them.
“And by the way, this same authorities that the president has used to secure the border, President Biden could have done the same thing but chose not to,” Mullin, who served as a Republican senator from Oklahoma during the Biden years, said.
