A major beef recall is underway after federal authorities discovered that nearly 30,000 pounds of raw beef imported from Argentina entered the United States without completing a required federal reinspection.
Corte Argentino USA LLC, an Aventura, Florida-based importer, is recalling approximately 29,628 pounds of raw beef products following the discovery by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The affected products were distributed to retailers and distributors in Florida and Texas.
The USDA announced the recall on August 7 after determining that the beef had entered U.S. commerce without the required import reinspection. That discovery has now triggered a Class I recall, the most serious category used by the agency.
