A Democratic congressional candidate in Hawaii is facing serious criminal charges after an ugly confrontation at a Maui beach ended with him unconscious in the sand.
Kirill Basin, who is challenging Democratic Rep. Jill Tokuda for Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District, was arrested following an altercation at Keawakapu Beach in South Kihei.
Police allege the dispute escalated far beyond an argument over loud music.
