The Pentagon is preparing to honor one of South Carolina’s most influential public servants by renaming Joint Base Charleston after the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, a move that underscores his decades-long commitment to America’s armed forces and the Palmetto State.
According to an internal Air Force memorandum, Secretary of the Air Force Troy Meink has officially directed military leaders to begin the process of changing the installation’s name to Joint Base Lindsey Graham. The decision recognizes Graham’s long record of military service, his work in Congress, and his persistent efforts to strengthen one of the nation’s most important military installations.
The directive, dated July 27 and first reported by The Post and Courier, instructs Air Mobility Command officials and Joint Base Charleston leadership to take “all necessary and appropriate actions” to implement the renaming.
