Spain Just Became China’s Car Gateway?

European automakers are facing mounting pressure as Chinese vehicle manufacturers continue expanding across the continent, with Spain emerging as one of the industry’s fastest-growing production hubs.

The latest development came this week when Chinese automaker Geely announced plans to manufacture electric SUVs at Ford’s underutilized Valencia facility through a joint venture. The agreement is expected to give Geely a manufacturing base inside the European Union, allowing vehicles produced there to avoid the additional tariffs imposed on Chinese-built electric vehicles.

The project is also expected to expand production at the Valencia site by introducing four additional vehicle models that will be shared between the two companies.
