A routine flight into Germany took a disturbing turn when a passenger allegedly invoked Islamic religious law to justify refusing to sit next to a woman before later assaulting a female flight attendant who attempted to resolve the situation.
According to reports from German media outlet BILD, the incident involved a 29-year-old Turkish migrant residing in Germany. Authorities say the confrontation unfolded during a June 1 flight bound for Düsseldorf and ultimately ended with the suspect being taken into custody after the aircraft landed.
Witnesses reportedly told investigators that the passenger refused to remain in his assigned seat because a woman was seated beside him. According to police accounts, the man allegedly insisted that his actions were rooted in Sharia law and refused to comply with crew instructions.
