Obama Aide Fired Over Cash and Credit Card Theft

A former Obama administration communications official is facing intense scrutiny after being fired from a high-ranking position inside Minneapolis city government amid allegations that he stole cash and payment cards from coworkers and used them to fund purchases at local smoke shops.

Adam Fetcher, 42, who recently served as Minneapolis’ chief communications officer, was terminated from his city post on July 1 following an internal investigation into a string of alleged thefts involving fellow employees.

The accusations have sent shockwaves through City Hall because Fetcher was not a low-level staffer. He occupied one of the most visible communications positions in city government and was earning nearly $187,000 annually while helping shape public messaging for Mayor Jacob Frey’s administration.
