A seasonal conductor at Tennessee’s Incline Railway on Lookout Mountain has lost his job after making remarks to passengers during an Independence Day ride that quickly went viral online, sparking both criticism and praise across social media.

The employee, identified as Jack Peterson, made the comments while addressing riders aboard the historic railway on the Fourth of July. His remarks immediately drew attention after they were captured on video and widely shared online, fueling another debate over patriotism, immigration, and free speech.

As the train prepared for its journey, Peterson greeted passengers by saying, “To the very, very few Americans in here, happy Independence Day.”
