Global energy markets were thrown back into turmoil on Wednesday after President Donald Trump suggested that hopes for a lasting ceasefire with Iran may be fading rapidly, while also signaling that additional American military action could be on the table.
The remarks came during Trump’s appearance at the NATO summit in Turkey, where the president delivered some of his sharpest criticism yet of Iran’s ruling regime following reported attacks on commercial shipping near the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking to reporters, Trump left little doubt about his frustration with Tehran.
