For decades, Washington has relied on blue-ribbon commissions, advisory panels, and government reform studies that generated headlines but rarely produced lasting change. Reports were written, recommendations were published, and lawmakers largely ignored them.
DOGE took a very different approach.
Rather than spending years studying government waste, the Trump administration embedded technology experts directly inside major federal agencies and gave them access to the systems where taxpayer dollars were actually being spent. The result was an aggressive effort to identify waste, eliminate programs, and shrink parts of the federal bureaucracy in real time.
