Chaos erupted in the center of Beijing on Friday evening after a small aircraft crashed into the city’s tallest building, sending debris cascading onto streets below and forcing a large-scale evacuation from one of China’s most recognizable skyscrapers.
The dramatic incident unfolded at Citic Tower, a towering landmark that dominates Beijing’s financial district. Witnesses described scenes of confusion and panic as workers rushed out of the building while emergency crews flooded the area.
Authorities have yet to reveal whether the crash resulted in fatalities or injuries. Officials also have not disclosed how many people were aboard the aircraft, where it departed from, or what may have caused the accident.
