Major League Baseball is facing growing scrutiny after Commissioner Robert Manfred defended the league’s decision to warn players who displayed Bible verses on their uniforms while continuing to allow Pride-themed apparel during select events.
The controversy erupted after several members of the San Francisco Giants used a team-sponsored Pride Night to publicly share their Christian faith.
Starting pitcher Landen Roupp and relievers JT Brubaker and Ryan Walker drew attention when they appeared wearing hats that included references to Scripture. Roupp specifically displayed “Gen 9:12-16” alongside the Giants logo during his start.
