Just weeks after the newly renovated Reflecting Pool at the Lincoln Memorial reopened to the public, vandals reportedly damaged the project by cutting into the specialized blue sealant used to restore the historic landmark’s appearance.
The incident has sparked outrage among supporters of the President and prompted a federal investigation into what authorities believe may be politically motivated vandalism.
For decades, the Reflecting Pool has been one of the most recognizable sights in the nation’s capital. Stretching between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument, the pool has served as the backdrop for historic events, presidential celebrations, and countless tourist photographs.
