When he was processed, Love appeared in a standard orange jail jumpsuit for his mugshot, staring directly at the camera with a visibly stoic expression. The image quickly circulated in media reports covering the arrest, adding to renewed public attention on the actor’s legal troubles.
Love is widely recognized for his role in the 2003 holiday hit Elf, where he played the Gimbels department store manager opposite Will Ferrell’s iconic character Buddy. He also appeared in the 2009 ensemble comedy Couples Retreat, further cementing his presence in mainstream Hollywood comedies during the 2000s and early 2010s.
However, his entertainment career has increasingly been overshadowed by repeated legal issues in recent years. Tuesday’s arrest is not the first time Love has faced criminal allegations or court action.
In February 2025, he was accused of felony assault after a hotel employee alleged that he struck her with a credit card machine during a confrontation, causing injury and breaking her glasses. The alleged incident reportedly took place months earlier, in August 2024. By July 2025, a judge determined there was sufficient evidence for the case to proceed to trial, keeping the matter active in the criminal justice system.
Love also has a prior conviction-related incident on his record. In 2017, he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor stemming from an altercation at John Glenn Columbus International Airport in Ohio. In that case, he was accused of attacking a valet in an incident that was captured on video. He received a $500 fine and a suspended 180-day jail sentence.
With this latest arrest, Love now faces mounting legal pressure across multiple jurisdictions and cases, adding yet another chapter to a long-running pattern of courtroom disputes and criminal allegations.
For now, he remains in custody in Tampa as the contempt charges move forward, while his representatives have not issued any public statement regarding the arrest or the ongoing child support dispute.
The situation marks a sharp contrast to the comedic roles that once made Love a recognizable face in Hollywood, now increasingly eclipsed by legal battles that continue to follow him into the present.
