Federal authorities say they have dismantled what they describe as a coordinated terror plot aimed at a major high-profile event held on the White House South Lawn, with five suspects now in custody following a fast-moving investigation that unfolded across multiple states.
The planned attack was allegedly designed as a multi-stage operation targeting the UFC Freedom 250 event, which drew thousands of attendees to Washington, D.C. Investigators say the scheme centered on the use of explosive-laden drones intended to strike structures near the venue, with the goal of triggering widespread chaos among spectators and forcing crowds into pre-positioned kill zones.
According to officials, the attackers allegedly intended to exploit the panic by positioning a sniper team nearby, with the expectation of targeting fleeing civilians as they attempted to escape the area. Authorities described the plan as deliberately engineered to maximize confusion and casualties during a large public gathering.
A further escalation was allegedly planned as well. Officials said a “second wave” of participants was prepared to move in after the initial chaos, with intentions to breach security and storm the White House gate itself.
