Sanctuary City Gets a Brutal Reality Check

Democrat leaders across America have spent the last several years racing to prove their opposition to federal immigration enforcement. From sanctuary city policies to public clashes with ICE, many local officials have made resistance to immigration crackdowns a central part of their political identity.

But in Charlotte, North Carolina, that resistance effort recently crashed into reality.

A taxpayer-funded program created to provide financial assistance to families affected by a large-scale federal immigration operation ended in complete failure after city leaders overlooked one obvious problem.

Not a single dollar reached its intended recipients.

A Program That Never Got Off the Ground

Following a major immigration enforcement operation in Charlotte, city officials approved a relief fund intended to assist families who claimed economic hardship as a result of federal actions.

The city allocated $100,000 in taxpayer money for the initiative and partnered with a nonprofit organization to administer the funds.

On paper, city leaders presented the effort as a compassionate response to federal immigration enforcement.
