A growing controversy is unfolding at Baylor University after officials were accused of restricting access to a major conservative campus event, leaving thousands of local residents locked out despite earlier expectations they would be allowed to attend.
The dispute centers around a scheduled stop of the “This is the Turning Point Tour,” organized by Turning Point USA. The event, set to take place at Waco Hall, features a lineup of prominent conservative voices including Border Czar Tom Homan, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, and political commentator Benny Johnson.
According to Turning Point USA, the event was initially planned as a community-inclusive gathering, welcoming not only students but also residents from the surrounding Waco area. However, organizers say that plan was abruptly reversed, resulting in approximately 4,500 non-student ticket holders being denied entry.
“This event was originally designed to be open to both the student body and local Waco community,” a TPUSA representative told Breitbart News. “In a tight-knit community like Waco, where the university is the heartbeat of town, it would be weird not to open it up to the community.”
