Comer STUNS Omar With One Brutal Question

Her legal team has also defended the change, arguing that members of Congress often rely on outside accountants when preparing disclosures. In a statement to the Office of Congressional Conduct, her attorney said errors in such filings can happen and insisted there was no wrongdoing involved. The attorney described the issue as “unfortunate,” adding that “there is nothing untoward, and nothing illegal has occurred.”

Still, the scale of the adjustment has fueled skepticism among critics.

Independent journalist Nick Shirley, appearing on Fox News’ The Big Weekend Show, questioned the plausibility of such a large reporting shift being purely clerical.

“I don’t think I’ve ever put two extra zeros as an error when I file any report,” Shirley said.

He went further, sharply criticizing the Minnesota congresswoman and saying he had “no respect” for her, while also labeling her “the queen of the fraud.”

Beyond Omar’s personal disclosure, attention has also turned to the financial trajectory of two business entities tied to her husband, Tim Mynett. One of those firms, Rose Lake Capital, has shown extreme swings in valuation across successive filings. At one point, it was listed as having a value as high as $25 million. In earlier disclosures, it had been reported at between $1 and $1,000. In the most recent amendment, its value dropped to zero after liabilities were applied.

A second entity, the winery eStCru LLC, followed a similar pattern. It was previously listed at up to $5 million, later dropped below $50,000, and was ultimately also reduced to zero in the amended filing.

However, what has not disappeared is reported income tied to those same businesses. The amended disclosures still indicate that the couple received between $102,503 and $1,005,200 in income in 2024 alone. That figure reportedly includes $213,200 in distributions from the venture capital firm.

For critics, the contrast between collapsing asset values and continued high income has raised questions about how the businesses are structured and how their worth is being calculated.

Chairman James Comer has taken a particularly aggressive stance, sending a letter to Mynett demanding documentation and clarification. In it, he wrote: “There are serious public concerns about how your businesses increased so dramatically in value only a year after reporting very limited assets.”

Comer also raised concerns about transparency in ownership and potential foreign influence, noting: “Given that these companies do not publicly list their investors or where their money comes from, this sudden jump in value raises concerns that unknown individuals may be investing to gain influence with your wife.”

His inquiry reportedly includes requests for financial records, SEC communications, and travel documents connected to trips to Somalia, Kenya, and the United Arab Emirates. Mynett did not respond to the February deadline set by the committee.

Further scrutiny has also focused on Rose Lake Capital’s public profile, which lists experienced diplomats and international trade experts among its affiliations but does not disclose investors or detailed financial backing. In one instance, a business partner allegedly received nearly $11,000 in airfare for travel tied to meetings in Dubai connected to a potential deal.

Separately, court records have also been referenced in connection with prior disputes involving Mynett’s winery venture, where investors alleged missed payments tied to promised returns—allegations that were later resolved after legal action.

For now, Omar’s office has dismissed the broader controversy as politically motivated. But with Comer’s investigation ongoing and additional records being sought, the questions surrounding the financial disclosures are unlikely to fade quickly.

What began as an accounting correction has now become a high-profile congressional inquiry—one that continues to draw attention well beyond Capitol Hill.
