JUST IN: Forensic Match Connects Killer Weapon to Charlie Kirk

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

Authorities allege that Robinson used a Mauser 98 rifle chambered in .30-06 to carry out the deadly attack. That weapon type is consistent with the caliber identified in the fragment, giving prosecutors a clearer evidentiary link between the firearm and the fatal shot.

The shooting itself took place on September 10, 2025, during a public event at Utah Valley University, where Kirk had been scheduled to appear. The conservative activist, widely known as the founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot in what authorities describe as a targeted attack.

Robinson now faces a sweeping list of charges, led by aggravated murder, a capital offense under Utah law. Prosecutors have also filed multiple additional felony counts, including reckless discharge of a firearm causing injury, obstruction of justice tied to both concealing the weapon and discarding clothing, and witness tampering allegations involving efforts to silence individuals connected to the case.

One particularly serious charge alleges that the violent crime was committed in the presence of a child, potentially compounding the severity of the penalties Robinson could face if convicted.

Utah prosecutors have made clear they intend to pursue the death penalty.

The case has also drawn attention due to newly surfaced evidence uncovered through search warrants and affidavits. Among the most striking revelations is a handwritten note allegedly authored by Robinson and addressed to an individual identified as Lance Twiggs.

In that note, Robinson appears to admit responsibility in stark terms, writing: “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I took it,”

Investigators have reportedly gathered additional physical evidence linking Robinson to the crime scene, including DNA material and a palm print recovered from the roof of the Losee Center building where the shooting occurred.

The forensic clarification surrounding the bullet fragment may prove pivotal as the case moves forward. What was once portrayed as a potential weakness in the prosecution’s argument is now being reframed as corroborating evidence that strengthens the narrative presented by investigators.

Legal analysts note that ballistic evidence, even when partial or fragmented, can carry significant weight in court, particularly when it aligns with other physical and testimonial evidence.

As pre-trial proceedings continue, the newly disclosed findings are expected to play a central role in upcoming legal battles, especially as the defense seeks to challenge the prosecution’s interpretation of the forensic data.

For now, the case against Robinson appears to be tightening, with each new filing shedding additional light on the events that led to one of the most shocking political killings in recent memory.
