A fresh political storm is brewing around California Governor Gavin Newsom, and this time it’s not about policy, lockdowns, or even the infamous French Laundry scandal. Instead, the spotlight has shifted to his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, after a resurfaced interview triggered sharp criticism and reignited debates about elite political messaging.
The controversy exploded after a 2023 interview between Siebel Newsom and former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki began circulating online again. What might have once passed quietly is now being dissected in a very different political climate, especially with 2028 presidential speculation already underway.
During the interview, Siebel Newsom explained why she and her family traveled through several Southern states, including Alabama. Her reasoning raised eyebrows immediately.
“I know for a fact that we don’t get this history in our schools,” she told Psaki. “I am a truth seeker. They need to know the truth.”
That explanation didn’t sit well with many viewers, and it quickly caught the attention of CNN commentator Scott Jennings, who didn’t hold back during a panel discussion.
