The recording, reportedly taken from a March 1 campaign strategy call, captured El-Sayed speaking with his communications team just one day after U.S. and Israeli forces eliminated Iran’s longtime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Instead of offering a clear response to the death of a figure widely tied to terrorism and anti-American actions, El-Sayed appeared to urge silence.

“I also want to remind you guys that there are a lot of people in Dearborn who are sad today. So, like, I just don’t want to comment on Khamenei at all. Like, I don’t think it’s worth even touching that.”
