A photo has surfaced showing Princess Beatrice smiling next to a man now under investigation for allegedly helping China spy on the United Kingdom. The man in question, David Taylor, was pictured alongside Beatrice during a 2016 charity trip across Nepal. Today, he is out on bail facing serious accusations of assisting a foreign intelligence service.
David Taylor Arrested Over Alleged Chinese Spy Links
On March 4, 2026, London’s Metropolitan Police conducted a high-profile counter-terrorism operation under the National Security Act. Three men were arrested on suspicion of aiding a foreign intelligence service. The youngest, 39-year-old David Taylor, is a former Labour adviser, registered lobbyist, and husband of Labour MP Joani Reid.
Taylor was taken from his London home at dawn. At the same time, police conducted raids in Pontyclun and Powys, Wales, arresting Matthew Aplin, 43, and Steve Jones, 68 — both former Labour advisers. Searches were carried out across London, East Kilbride, and Cardiff. All three have since been released on bail until May as investigations continue.
